The Business Alliance of Kingston conducted a Design Charrette in July of 2010
with the hope that this charrette will inform the City's efforts to recruit a developer.
The redevelopment of this blighted property at 615 Broadway would be a great leap
forward in the revitalization of Midtown Kingston.
Leading local and national architects participated in this charrette.
The drawings and results of the eleven teams are below:

Kingston/Hudson Valley Innovation &/or Heritage Center or “The Center” (working title) The Lot: We essentially split the unusual shape of the property in half with a three/four-story mixed use building on the street facing Broadway and a Parking lot in the rear. Access to the parking lot could be from Broadway through an arch that intersects the building or from Cedar Street from the back of the building. There are other parking spaces on Broadway and in the municipal lot nearby. Car and human-sized entry should be similar if at all possible. NO parking should face Broadway. The front of the building should be contiguous with the other buildings on the block. A lobby/reception area would house the heritage center. A separate entrance from Broadway should be available for live/work space. We voted as a group to deconstruct the current building and re-use the materials for the new building.
